What is RFID?
- RFID is the acronym of Radiofrequency Identification. Radiofrequency Identification is based on the principle
that any contact, neither visual nor electric, is needed in order to identify an object.
- A RFID system consists of the following components: the transponder (tag) and the reader/writer devices
equipped with the related antennas. The reading range varies from a few centimetres to some metres
depending both on transmitting power and operating frequency.
- A passive transponder is composed by a substrate on which the integrated circuit (chip) and the metallic antenna are located.
